How do I find a rent to own home in the metro DC area?
I dream of owning a home but do not have the finances available at this time. I have heard of lease to own options but am unsure how to find them in my area.

- Rent-to-own is a TERRIBLE deal. If you cannot afford to own a home, stay renting. The rent-to-own notion is not something you should put yourself up to right now.
- some houses that are for sale by owner...ask them, they may consider lease to own, depending on their age of course. the house we're renting is available for lease to own, but we're gonna wait and purchase one instead. its good to lease to own but you wont get any credit for doing it that way, but i understand your situation. some older ppl don't want to lease to own because they are up in age, ya know. sometimes in the classified section under rent or for sale homes, they have phone numbers from agencies that have homes lease to own....good luck
- It's highly doubtful you can get such in that area, and they rarely are advertised as such. Why not rent for a year in the Fredericksburg/Stafford area to give yourself time to look around and save money. Rent will be a lot less expensive than in Falls Church, Fairfax, Arlington or DC, plus you can take the train to work or a carpool.
- I agree with FaZizzle. Rent to own is most a scam, they ask alot up front and wait for you be be late on your payment. Try to get a gift from the seller for your down payment....
