Is it worth it to "lease to own" a home?
My fiancee and I are moving to Texas. We're not 100% sure we are able to buy right now, and he mentioned lease to own. I've never looked into it, is it worth the effort ? Is it beneficial to the person leasing, as in cheaper, less hassle? Or is it just as much trouble as buying a house? I've only ever rented, so any info or personal experiences about this would be helpful. Thanks!

- It is not worth it. I took economics last semester, and my professor explicitly repeated that lease-to-own plans are the worst.
- It rarely, as in never, works out where you end up owning the property in the end. This is a rather slimy scheme to get glorified, and higher, rent from property. The "seller" holds all of the cards and has tons of loopholes to screw you with.
- I am a realtor and my advice is to never never never never lease to own. People that lease to own rarley end up getting the house.
