What would you do in this rent to own mess?

My parents were recently in a contract that was rent to own. They have been in it for about two years. All along they have been getting letters from the bank saying that there was no payment on the house even though my parents were paying rent to the owners of the house. My parents talked to them and said that they would pay the arrears for the house, if the owners would let my parents pay directly to the bank. The owners refused to let that happen. So a few more letters came in the mail like that one, but the owners said to disregard them and that they paid it. Two weeks ago my parents got a letter in the mail saying that the house was being foreclosed on and that the owners even refinanced the house without using my parents money to pay on the house. So, my parents who paid their rent early have two move with only two weeks notice. The owners won't answe the phone when my parents inquire about everything including keeping rent money for this month, even though they will only be there for two weeks and the owners don't even own the house anymore. What should be done in this situation?

1. Don't pay and move out.. I would think to take them to court for it all. Where did the rent money go.. and its not fair to them.
2. Find a place to move to as quickly as possible they have little rights because I just know they did not have an Atty look at the obsure paperwork on this so that this mess would NOT happen. They have been scammed with little recourse as they were technically only renting.
3. Sue for breach of contract.
