- When applying for a home loan your credit report will be reviewed and you may be required to provide a number of other details, including: Employment and income records, Tax Returns for the last few years List of assets, List of liabilities and what you owe, Your budget showing monthly living expenses so that you can demonstrate an ability to pay. http://www.worldbestloans.com/homeloans.htm With this information you and your lender will be able to determine the kind of home loan and size of the right mortgage for you. In some cases, you can obtain a pre-approval or pre-qualified certificate, which shows how much you can borrow so that you can then shop for homes in an appropriate price range.
- Go to the Houston Association of Realtors website www.har.com, and click "Find a Home". At the top of the page you will find several links to click....choose and click "Residential Lease". There, you can input the specific area of town, size of house and price per month you want to spend. Once you find 2-3 houses you like, you might ask the realtor if the owner plans on selling the house in a few years. I wouldn't bring up the bad credit issue, since you aren't purchasing at this point. When I moved to Houston about 10 years ago, I was specifically looking for a 2-bedroom, 2-car garage townhouse. I went through an Apartment Locator agent. They also lease homes and townhouses. I wasn't thinking of purchasing at that point, but 3 years into leasing, the owner asked if I wanted to buy it, and made me a great deal. Hope this helps! Good luck!
