The problem with rent to own is that it very rarely works out for the renter. There is a home in my neighborhood that is on its 4th or 5th rent to own/lease option victim, the owner keeps the deposits and laughs all the way to the bank.
Godge is correct as rent to own/lease options to buy. The owners have the upper hand as most folks can not fulfill the option. Reason for the rent/lease option that do not work. Most people can not get a loan after the set date of 3 years that would be required to purchase the home. Then you would need to complete the purchase with a 20% down payment that is required by any lender. So you can see that it is in the favor of the owner. Now as far as a website that shows rent to own properties is Craigslist.com and it is free to look.
