When you lease to own a home who is responsible for the mantinance of the home?

For example if the a/c goes out who fixes it? Also who carries home owners insurance on the property?

  1. The person who leased to own is responsible. You take on all the responsibilites of ownership unless your contract states otherwise
  2. That should be specified in the contract. Do NOT enter into a "lease to own" deal without having a lawyer review it first. These can be very dangerous to the "purchaser."
  3. Normally it is the lease holder, but you should read your specific contract.
