- sure but you will still owe the lease payments
- You can leave any time you want, but you will be bound to your lease until early August. I gather that someone told you that you could get out of your lease because you are a first time home buyer. "Someone" is entirely wrong. Your lease remains binding, home purchase or not.
- Whoever told you that was incorrect. If you move before the lease expires you must pay according to the contract's stipulations.
- NJ has no such law. You do have a few choices though.. 1. sublet the apartment if your lease allows such 2. negotiate a buyout with the landlord 3. find a suitable replacement tenant
- The best thing to do would be contact your landlord and explain the situation. We work with our tenants. Generally if they want to break a lease early we require 30 days notice and a two month penalty plus surrendering the security deposit. Of course you can just walk away and leave the deposit, but you risk having a judgement against you. It just depends on how established and serious the property management company is.
- Your purchase is not related with your lease in any way. Most landlords let you buy your way out, you need to talk to yours.
- There is not a law like that. You are responsible for the remainder of the lease unless you can find a replacement tenant. Talk to your landlord now.
