Can a home owner rent their own house to themselves under section 8 if their personal income is low enough?

  2. The short answer is no. The long answer is that there might be a way to get around it if you incorporated yourself and then leased it to yourself or a family member through your business or whatever. But really, no.

However, I sit on the Board of Directors for our local Habitat for Humanity and our city has a program, similar to Section 8, that allows lower income families to receive housing assistance. It is not easy to get, but we have one family who pays their house payment with assistance from our city.
